World leaders congratulate Argentina following Qatar World Cup win | CNN


United States President Joe Biden, Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron are amongst world leaders who’ve congratulated Argentina President Alberto Fernández following Sunday’s World Cup victory in Qatar.

Argentina captain Lionel Messi led the 3-3 (4-2 on penalties) win over the 2018 defending champion France in an exciting remaining.

“Congratulations to you, Alberto, and to each Argentinian for yesterday’s hard-fought and well-deserved victory. You already know, I feel that Messi man might need a future,” President Biden wrote on Twitter Monday, beneath a video from President Fernández celebrating the nation’s third World Cup title.

President Macron, who gave an impassioned speech within the France locker room following the defending champions defeat, put out a Tweet on Sunday saying: “Bravo to the French staff for his or her progress and struggle on this World Cup. You will have thrilled the nation and supporters world wide. Congratulations to Argentina for his or her victory.”

In the meantime Russia’s Ministry of Overseas Affairs mentioned in a Tweet on Sunday: “Throughout a phone dialog, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, warmly congratulated the President of Argentina Alberto Fernández for Argentina’s victory within the Soccer World Cup.”

President Fernández confirmed in a Tweet that the decision with President Putin occurred, saying: “Thanks for this greeting President Putin. Could the enjoyment that right this moment unites Argentina with so many peoples of the world serve for example: our societies want unity and peace.”

Argentina returned to a hero’s welcome when the staff landed again within the nation’s capital, Buenos Aires.
